The History Of Huffman House Bed and Breakfast The Huffman House Bed and Breakfast is a Queen Ann Revival home, that was built by Mr. J.H. Nelson in 1918 on the site of the 1870 Reams house. Wood and architectural pieces from the original home was used in the construction of the much larger Nelson homestead. Currently the Huffman home has over 5100 ft.² in the main living quarters with the adjacent pool house adding an additional 300 ft.² plus a second full kitchen. Kimberly and James Huffman purchased this home in 2015 and begin a cosmetic renovation to freshen this grand old historic home. Kimberly and James both hoteliers by trade secured the proper documentation and permits to transform this grand historic home into a Luxury Micro Inn / Bed and Breakfast in the downtown Minden Historic District in June of 2015, and at that time formed Huffman Management, LLC as the operating entity . The Huffman House B&B is now renting rooms and has received outstanding reviews for its guests.

Hotel Tips

Most hotel offer a complimentary breakfast bar or even a full cafe meal with your choice of a full menu. Keep in mind that some offer nothing at all so it is a good idea to pack a few packets of instant oatmeal for a quick and easy meal before you head out for the day.

Elevators are notorious for being a nuisance so ask to be roomed on the top floor and as far away as possible. Most hotels book nearby rooms last so hopefully they have availability elsewhere.

Avoid booking poolside for kids playing during the day and gatherings at night. Sound bounces off of the water and voices carry so ask for a room away from the pool either on the opposite side of the hotel or in higher floors.

Things To Do

Minden gives several options to find the right piece of art as it takes time and a diligent effort to get just the right piece. Shopping for art downtown is the best way to locate your next purchase.

Minden shopping is better than online shopping so that you can touch, feel, smell and taste as an experience with an item before deciding to purchase it for yourself or as a gift. Local merchants have hand selected their inventory to provide a unique selection for your downtown.

Downtowns are so cute and has a very relaxed inviting vibe that puts a smile on my face. In addition, downtown was so clean. It was fun visiting the unique shops and boutiques and everyone was very friendly. Our stroll around Lithia Park was beautiful and so peaceful. It truly is a gem. Lastly, we ate at 4 or 5 different restaurants that had great food and great service.

Sking King

I love walking through downtown when the sun finally comes out. You can get a great organic meal at one place, yummy sushi nearby, and awesome beer. Not to mention the Criterion has fabulous shows.
